President Zai Lab
Rafael G. Amado, M.D. is President and Head of Global Research & Development at Zai Lab Limited, where he leads strategy and execution across the company’s global therapeutic pipeline. He joined Zai Lab in December 2022 from Allogene Therapeutics, where he was Executive Vice President, Head of R&D and Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Amado has over two decades of leadership experience in oncology and biologics development, including senior roles at Adaptimmune, GlaxoSmithKline and Amgen. He earned his M.D. from the University of Seville and completed medical training in internal medicine and hematology/oncology in the United States.
